Woodlawn Brook crosses under State Street at the base of a hill near Cascade Park. The existing 4'X4' concrete box is of unknown age and is beginning to fail. The culvert was last repaired in 2002 before State Street was paved. State Street is scheduled to be paved in 2021, and the culvert should be replaced prior to paving. The City has proposed to extend this culvert to allow for the steep slopes of the road to be lengthened for roadway stability, eliminate the need for an existing retaining wall, and to improve the alignment of the culvert with the existing stream flows. The northern end of the proposed culvert will extend onto private property at 461 Garland Street. The City will access the area to be repaired from the State Street right-of-way, and will restore the property when the work has been completed.
