HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-08-10 20-250 Order 08/10/202020-250 08/10/2020 20-250 Airport Order 001-001 Title, Order Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement Between the City of Bangor and Maine DOT for the Purchase and Install of the General Audio Recordng System (GARD) at Bangor International Airport. This Order will authorize the City Manager to execute a five-year agreement between the City of Bangor and Maine DOT for the purchase and installation of a general audio recording system (GARD) at BGR. The GARD system allows airports to record radio transmissions for safety purposes and airfield training. While not required, Maine DOT is requesting that Maine airports install this system, which will provide data for DOT to update the State Aviation System Plan and help justify future airport investments. Under the terms of this agreement, DOT will purchase the system including hardware and software and the City will provide wi-fi access and verify a monthly and annual operations report. The agreement will be in final form as approved by City Legal. This Order supports the City goal to Improve and Develop Safe and Accessible Multi-Modal Transportation Systems. WHEREAS, The City of Bangor owns and operates the Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, This Order will authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement between the City of Bangor and Maine DOT for the purchase and install of the general audio recording system (GARD) at the airport; and WHEREAS, This system allows airports the ability to record radio transmissions for safety purposes, as well as utilize for airfield training; and WHEREAS, This system will also provide data for the DOT to use to update the State Aviation System Plan to help justify future airport investments; and WHEREAS, Through this 5-year agreement the DOT will purchase the system, which includes hardware and software; and WHEREAS, The City is required to provide the wi-fi access and verify a monthly and annual operations report. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, That The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement between the City of Bangor and Maine DOT for the purchase and install of the general audio recording system (GARD) at the airport. Through this 5-year agreement the DOT will purchase the system, which includes hardware and software. This agreement shall be in final form as approved by City Legal.
