The grant application was approved by the City Council in March 2020. The purpose of the grant is to update the survey information from the late 1980's and survey the Broadway/West Broadway neighborhood. The work will be managed by the Community and Economic Development Director and the Planning Officer. The survey will be prepared by a consultant using both the city's procurement process and MHPC's requirements under their obligations to the funding source, the US Secretary of the Interior. The project must be completed by September 2021. The grant requires a local match of $12,000. The proposed FY 2021 budget includes $4,000 towards the match and the balance of $8,000 would be carried forward from the FY 2020 Planning division budget. The carryforward funds are available from FY 2020 due to personnel vacancies. Bangor Historic Preservation Commission will also participate in the project. The Bangor Historical Society has also indicated support for the project.
