Authorizing City Manager to Accept and Appropriate funding from the Project Canopy Grant in the amount of
$7500 from the Department of Agriculture and Conservation and the Maine Forest Service.
This Resolve would allow the City Manager to Accept and Appropriate funds from the Project Canopy
Grant in the amount of $7500.00 for the development of a forestry management plan for the City's
forests. These grant funds will allow the city to develop a plan to ensure the City's forests are
healthy, safe, and a welcoming place for residents and visitors of the city. If approved, the city is
responsible for a matching amount to be spent as either in-kind services or with funding. Any
matching funds would come from a forestry reserve account and be approved as part of the FY
20-21 budget.

$7500 from the Department of Agriculture and Conservation and the Maine Forest Service.
Whereas; the last Forestry Management Plan was developed in 1999 and the City is in need of an updated
plan, and
Whereas; The Department of Agriculture and Conservation along with the Maine Forest Service provides these
grants to assist communities in developing forestry management plans, and
Whereas; These grant funds will assist the City in developing a plan to ensure the City's forest is a healthy,
safe, and welcoming place for residents and visitors of the city, and
Whereas; the has applied for, under Council approval of Council Order 20-094, and was successful in being
awarded these grant funds, and
Whereas; this program requires a one hundred percent match from the city in order to use these grant funds.
Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is Authorized to Accept and
Appropriate funding from the Project Canopy Grant in the amount of $7500 from the Department of
Agriculture and Conservation and the Maine Forest Service.
