TMT the City Clerk is nettle, directed to prepare the necessary
warrants and ballots for a Special Municipal election to be held
January 5, 1982 for the purpose of effecting the election of two
members of the Superintending School Committee. Tne candidate accruing
the largest total of votes at the municipal election shall be elected
to serve until the first Monday in November, 1989, and the candidate
receiving the next to the largest total number of votes shall he elected
to serve until the first monday in November, 1983.

THAT, to accordancc with Chap0. 32, ?&SL of 1981, the City Clerk

shall take all necessary action to place on a ballot at the next regular
City Election the following question and statement of £act:.
"Shall the Charter. be amended to increase the size
Of the Bangor, School Committee from5 to 1 members,
as authorized by the Legislatures" V
Statement of Fact: Chept. 32, Private h Special Laws
of 1981, authorises the City of Bangor to emend its
- Charter to increase the number of persons serving on
the Season School Committee from 5 to y members. The -
amandment;1f£ accepted by a majority of the legal voter
voting as the proposal, will repeat and replace section
2 of Article LI -A of the Charter with the following: '-
Sec. 2. COmPOsiti0n, election, tenure of office. The
Superintending School Committee shall consist of ) members -
' to be elected, at large, bypopular vote of the qualified
Vetere of the City of Bangor. Those members of the coamittee
holding office at the time this a endmeut takes effect shell
serve until their terms expire and their successor& are duly
elected and qualified. The remaining 2 positione shall be
