family units. While some of these sites may be turned down for various
reasons, we are prepared to offer alternates to achieve the goal. We
suggest that these units be favorably considered promptly toward a
revised goal for October, 1984, and that the Harlow Street Schoolbe
designated as elderly housing, not to be developed however, until the
City is on.its way to reach the balance, but not later than July 1, 1984.
This will permit I.R.I. to continue to carry the building at an annual
cost of some $50,000., and to go into the M.S.H.A. pipeline for approval.
We would expect then to have the Harlow Street elderly project available
for occupancy during 1985.
John, what I would like is an amendment to the Community
Developutent Plan—!h be' g bgb Pweai2—esYablish
"Prior approval of Harlow Street School for 59 units of Elderly
Housing once balance of Elderly and Family needs are met and does not
exceed 148 of need". his would make the Harlow Street School a
Priority Elderly Housing Project.
John, if this isn'tpractical, what dL you suggest?
Sincerely, _
