HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-05-11 20-150 Order 05/11/202020-150 05/11/2020 20-150 Airport Order 001-001 Title, Order Authorizing Bangor International Airport to Participate in a Study Regarding Access Control Systems for the Faith Group and the National Safe Skies Alliance Program. This Order will authorize Bangor International Airport (BGR) to participate as a Case Study airport for the Faith Group’s Work Plan for the National Safe Skies Alliance Program for Applied Research in Airport Security (PARAS) 0030 “Guidance for Access Control System Transitions.” If the Faith Group is selected for this study by the National Safe Skies Alliance, BGR would support their research effort by contributing information and feedback concerning the access control system. The objective of the research is to produce guidance detailing considerations, pitfalls, and lessons learned during access control technology selection, procurement, and implementation. The airport will receive copies of the published guidance for our staff when it is complete. Basic terms for the Letter of Commitment include that the airport shall not be compensated for efforts to participate in the study, and the City reserves the right to terminate participation if it is deemed untenable or difficult. This Letter will be in a final form as approved by City Legal. This Order supports the City goal to 'Improve and Develop Safe and Accessible Multi-Modal Transportation Systems'. WHEREAS, The City of Bangor owns and operates the Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, Bangor International Airport (BGR) has been asked to participate as a Case Study airport for the Faith Group’s Work Plan for the National Safe Skies Alliance Program for Applied Research in Airport Security (PARAS) 0030 “Guidance for Access Control System Transitions”; and WHEREAS, If the Faith Group is selected for this study by the National Safe Skies Alliance, BGR will support the research effort by contributing information and feedback concerning the access control system at BGR; and WHEREAS, The objective of the research is to produce guidance detailing considerations, pitfalls, and lessons learned during access control technology selection, procurement, and implementation; and WHEREAS, The airport will receive copies of the published guidance for our staff when it is complete; and WHEREAS, The airport will benefit from the published guidance in selecting it’s next access control system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, That The Bangor International Airport is authorized to participate as a Case Study airport for Faith Group’s Work Plan for the National Safe Skies Alliance Program for Applied Research in Airport Security (PARAS) 0030 “Guidance for Access Control System Transitions.” The Letter of Commitment and any other documents related to participation in the study shall be in final form as approved by the City Solicitor or Assistant City Solicitor.
