Ne Feng? j wars Sewer 492 Feet worth from Bangor Mall ................................... Boulevard Fnt oduced and filed by G/J/ Coonci CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE Engineering Department June 10, 1982 To the Municipal Officers: Reference is made to City Council Order No. 82-127 passed April 26, 1982, directing the City Engineer to make a study to determine the cost of extending the existing sanitary sewer approximately 500 feet north from Bangor Mall Boulevard along Penjejawoc Stream. Said study was initiated as a result of a petition received from Stephen Begged, who plans to construct s restaurant in the area between Bangor Mall Boulevard and Stillwater Avenue, thus requiring the sewer extension. Surveys, Plans and Cost Estimates have been completed, which would indicate the following: The proposed extension would consist of the installation of 492 feet of 10 inch pipe and 2 manholes, commencing at the existing sewer on Bangor Mall Boulevard, and extending north along Penjejawoc Stream toward StillwaterAvenue. The total estimated cost of the sewer installation is $169920.00. A 10 inch sewer is required, since this line will serve as a future collector for the Stillwater Avenue area. In accordance with previous practice, the assessments would be based upon a normal 8-inc2o sewer, since the additional size is not required by the Petitioner. Since the difference in cost between an 8 inch pipe and a 10 inch pipe is $3.00 per foot, then the total adjusted cost for determining. a fair assessment would be $15,440.00. Of this amount, the City would pay 50%, and the remaining $`),720.00 would be assessed against the property benefited, being the land owned by the Petitioner, Stephen Nagger. Since the sewer is necessary to permit the construction of the proposed restaurant, and since it is anticipated that sewer service will soon be required along Stillwater Avenue, it is recommended that the sewer be installed as described above. A Plan showing the proposed sewer installation is on file in the Office of the City Engineer. Respectfully submitted, J Frawley, City Engineer
