(DrUrf ..-Rapx ding for Hearing on proposal to Change pate of Municipal Election Bp th6 City Couxmt ofaw Cite of Bosom, ORDERED, THAT WHEREAS, the Bangor City Council, by adoption of this order, does hereby determine that amendment to the Bangor City Charter providing for a change in the dateof the regular municipal election should be considered, NOW, THEMPORE, by the City Council of the City of decagon ORDERED, THAT .the. City Clerk is hereby ordered, pursuant to 30 M.R.S.A. g5 1911 at Req:, -as amended. to provide for published notice of a Tearing to be held at Fl; an P M on a /f F n—rn the City Council Members, City Hell, for purposesof considering aproposed amendment to the Bangor. City Garter which would change the date of the regular municipal election, the text of said proposed amendment and a brief explanation thereof being as fellows; - THAT the first paragraph of Sec. 1, Article IV of the Eanggr City Garter is amended as follows: SEC. 1. Date of elections and procedure is determine sults. At the first election after this Garter is in force, to be held on the first lkmday in December, A. O. nineteen hundred Chirty-one, the qua lifted voters of the city shell ballot for nine councilmen, and the qualified voters of each ward shall at the same time ballot for a warden and award clerk for his ward, and thereafter on the ?M-ibedey-inBetebea Tuesday following the first Hunday in November in each year a regular municipal election shall be held and the qualified voters of the city shall ballot for councilmen to fill the office of the councilmen whose terms of office expire that year, and the qualified voters of each ward shall, at the same time, ballot to fill the office of warden or ward clerk which shall expire that year. Wardens and ward clerks shall be elected in alternate years for a two-year term of office. Explanation: The purpose of this amendment is to change the date of the regular municipal election from the second Horsley in October to the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each year.
