No. 82-55 Historic Preservation Amendment The Planning Board at its regular meeting of February 1, 1982 reviewed the proposed amendment to the Historic Preservation Ordinance relating to Article 4, Section 8.1.1. After considerable discussion about the potential problemsin the regulatory review process for such an amendment and the overlap of approvals and approval standards, the Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council not adopt the proposed amendment contained in C.O. No. 82-55. The Planning Board pointed out to Historic Preservation representa- tives at the meeting that it would welcome and in fact, encourage rage any pertinent c �m comments from the Historic Preservation Commission any item before it. It is, therefore, important that the Council make an amendment to its currant historic preservation ordinance that it be -xeit ed to issue e certif ice tie�a ppro or is ta, in casae where a sight - plan review or changes in landsscaping would affect the appearance of a designated building. Such an action would improvetheassessed valuation and Iterease its tax taverns. The interest today for cities throughout the nation to preserve its narticular atmosphere and its various styles of architecture is desireeble both to those who reside there and to visitors who come to discover their heritaee.
