This Resolve will accept and appropriate an additional $498,873 in additional Community Development Entitlement Funds Authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The City's FY19 Annual Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan was approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in April of 2019. Entitlement communities must submit an updated plan annually in order to receive CDBG grant funds. The purpose of this Amendment is to increase the total 2019 CDBG allocation from the amount originally submitted in the 2019 Action Plan of $837,680 to include the additional $498,873 that has been allocated through the CARES Act. The total amended allocation for the 2019 CDBG program year is $1,586,553. The attached spreadsheet details the new allocation amounts. The purpose of this additional CARES Act funding is to aid in the City's prevention, preparedness, and response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Among the projects to be funded with these monies are: business development assistance, access for critical food services for vulnerable populations, homeless assistance, and other social service needs.
