HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-04-13 20-127 Resolve 04/13/202020-127 04/13/2020 20-127 Health & Community Services Resolve N/A Title, Resolve Authorizing Execution of a Grant Amendment and Accepting and Appropriating the Amount of $187,200 to the Overdose Prevention Program. On April 23, 2018 Resolve 18-181 was passed to accept and appropriate grant funds in the amount of $100,000 ($50,000 in FY 19 and $50,000 in FY20) to the Overdose Prevention Program from the State of Maine. On July 8, 2019 Resolve 19-278 was passed to allow for an amendment to the grant, increasing the funds by $270,000 in FY20. These additional funds were provided by the state of Maine and included $240,000 to purchase narcan kits and $30,000 for administrative support to assist with distribution of narcan kits in service areas of Penobscot, Washington, and Hancock counties, as well as statewide. This Resolve will allow for a second amendment to the grant, increasing the funds by $187,200 in FY20. These additional funds will be provided by the state of Maine and will be used to purchase narcan kits to be distributed in service areas of Penobscot, Washington, and Hancock counties, as well as statewide. Whereas; the City of Bangor has previously accepted $370,000 in grant funds from the State of Maine for the Overdose Prevention Program, and Whereas; the State of Maine had additional funds in the amount of $187,200 to contribute to the Overdose Prevention Program. Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is authorized to amend resolve 19-278 and accept an additional $187,200 in funds to support the Overdose Prevention Program.
