Authorizing execution of a contract with American Ramp Company to Design and Construct a New Skate Park
in Hayford Park in an Amount not to Exceed $125,000
This order would authorize the execution of a contract with American Ramp Company for the design
and construction of a new skate park in Hayford Park.
The City received three bid proposals. American Ramp Company, which offered three different
options ranging from $116,000 to $125,000. Grindline Inc. also offered three options and each
option cost $120,900. Finally, Maine Highlands Contracting proposed one option for $224,980.
American Ramp Company's proposal offers a base design of $125,000 which includes additional
features such as additional grind rails, a larger quarter pipe and additional ramp. Staff will be
working with skate park enthusiasts to finalize the design with American Ramp Company for an
amount not to exceed $125,000. This amount is within the amount budgeted for this project.
This project meets the goal of improving the health, safety, and vitality of all who live, work and play
in Bangor.

Whereas, The City has a skate park on Union Street; and
Whereas, the site on Union Street is a difficult location for a recreational facility because it is a challenge for
individuals to access the site on foot and/or bicycle; and
Whereas, the City has held a number of processes to determine the best location for an updated skate park;
and
Whereas, several years ago the Council endorsed Hayford Park as the best location; and
Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the Finance Director enter into a contract with
American Ramp Company in an amount not to exceed $125,000 for the design and construction of a skate
park in Hayford Park.
