HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-03-09 20-091 Order 03/09/202020-091 03/09/2020 20-091 Planning Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing a Grant Application to the Maine Historic Preservation Commission Certified Local Government Grant Program in the Amount of $48,000 to Update Historic Building Survey This order will authorize a grant application to the Maine Historic Preservation Commission Certified Local Government Grant Program to update the City's historic building survey, conduct outreach activities, and attend trainings for historic preservation commissioners and staff. The survey for historic buildings in Bangor was completed in 1984. If approved, this grant will fund the update of the survey and also fund research on buildings built from the 1920’s through the 1960’s. This work includes photography, database creation, report on architectural and cultural significance, and building condition. The project will be conducted utilizing a consultant and the project budget is $48,000, with the grant request covering $28,800 and a local match of $19,200 required. This item addresses the Council goal to "improve economic vitality of the city and promote job growth, economic development, cultural opportunities, and housing opportunities to support job growth and expansion and growth of tax base" through documentation and storytelling of the historic and cultural assets of our community.
