Order Authorizing City Engineer to Apply for Maine Department of Transportation Grant Through The
Municipal Partnership Initiative (MPI) Program for Mill and Overlay of a Portion of State Street.
This Order would authorize the City Engineer to apply for a Maine Department of Transportation
Grant through the Municipal Partnership Initiative (MPI) Program for a "mill and fill" on a portion of
State Street, from Broadway to Hancock Street.
Under the Maine Partnership Initiative, costs of roadway improvement projects are shared between
Maine DOT and the Municipality, with each contributing 50% towards the total cost of the project
including design, construction, and inspection. Currently, the total maximum state match for any
one project is $500,000. The Preliminary estimated cost of this project is approximately $800,000,
with $400,000 coming from the State and $400,000 from the City.
