Title, Order
This order authorizes the City Manager to apply for $160,600 from the Assistance to Firefighters
Grant program for replacement of aging fire department radios. This grant would allow for
upgrading of the fire department's hand held and truck mounted radios. Many of the radios being
used are approaching 20 years in age and have become less dependable. A successful grant award
would require a 10% match that would be covered by the fire department budget.
This grant application supports the Council's goal to Improve the Health, Safety, and Vitality of All
Who Live, Work, and Play in Bangor.

Whereas, the City of Bangor is eligible to apply for the 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Grant; and
Whereas, the Fire Department's hand held and truck mounted radios are approaching 20 years in age and are
in need of replacement, and
Whereas, the application amount of $160,600 and the 10% required portion would cover the cost of these
new radios, and
Whereas, the Fire Department has the required match needed by this grant budgeted,
Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is authorized to apply for a 2019
Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $160,600 for the replacement of radios .
