mechanical issues early this morning.
1. Office Lease – Maine Highlands
Airport Director Caruso requested Committee approval for an Order authorizing the City
Manager to execute a lease agreement with Maine Highlands for an office rental in our General
Aviation Terminal.
Maine Highlands has been a GA tenant for more than 5 years. The organization is part of the
Maine Tourism Marketing Partnership Program (MTMPP) which develops and implements
programs designed to stimulate and expand the travel industry within Maine’s tourism regions.
Motion made, seconded and approved. The lease agreement will be presented to the City
Council for final approval.
2. Airport Construction Updates
a. Taxiway A(lpha) – This is a multi-year project to reconstruct this taxiway that parallels
the Runway. The South end is complete so they have moved to the North end.
b. Godfrey Boulevard – Paving will begin this week.
c. General Aviation Terminal – We’ve been gradually working on Terminal interior
improvements. The latest activity has been removing a wall to open up the lobby area.
We will soon begin work on kitchen and conference room enhancements
3. Airport Statistics – August 2019
Marketing Manager Thibodeau reported that August was another record month for domestic
passengers with a 2% increase over 2018. August was also a record month for American.
Strong load factors continue for all airlines. Operational Statistics look good.
4. Maine Communities Grant Program – Application Request
Airport Director Caruso requested Committee approval for an Order authorizing the Airport to
submit a grant application to the Maine Communities Grant program.
Marketing Director Thibodeau explained that the purpose of the grant, if awarded, would be to
fund a portion of the cost of creating new video content for phase II of the Airport’s website
redesign. This content could also be used for other marketing and social media campaigns.
Motion made, seconded and approved. The request will be presented to the City Council for
final approval.
5. Airport Advertising/Marketing Plan Update
Marketing Director Thibodeau provided the Committee with an update on our Marketing Plan,
with a focus on our Social Media Playbook. Current projects include website enhancements, a
separate Facebook group for frequent travelers, more frequent Facebook postings and regular
blogging. Councilors recommended increased Twitter postings, which is also included in a later
phase of the plan.
Meeting Adjourned.
