CITY OF BANGOR, MAIMS

July 61 1983
To the Municipal Officers:
Reference is made to City Council Order No. 83-91 passed
February 14, 1983 directing the City Engineer to undertake a
cost stud7 for the construction of a commercial subdivision
street and sanitary sewer for the proposed Stillwater Professional
Park Subdivision on Stillwater Avenue, as petitioned for by
Stillwater Professional Office Complex Associates. Plans and
Cost Estimates have been prepared, which would provide for the
following:
The roadway would extend in a northerly direction for a
distance of approximately 600 feet to a cul-de-sac, end would
have a travel way width of 30 feet, consisting of 3 iaobes of
bituminous concrete surface on an 18 inch gravel base. All of
the areas disturbed by the construction will be loamed and seeded.
Two catch basins will be placed near the northerly and, with a
10 inch culvert outlet pipe.
The sanitary sewer would include the installation of 440
feet of 8 inch pipe and 2 manholes, to be connected into a
proposed 8 inch sanitary sewer on Stillwater Avenue previously
authorized for construction by the City Council.
The total estimated cost of the roadway construction is
$27,400.00, of which fifty percent would be paid by the City,
and the remaining $13,700.00 would be assessed against the
Developer. The total estimated cost of the sanitary sewer
installation is $13,800.00, fifty percent of which would be
paid by the City and the remaining $6,900.00 would bepaid by
the Developer. Thus, the total project cost is $41,200.00.
with $20,600.00 to be paid by the Developer, and an equal amount
by the City. The Developer has been advised that receipt of hie
share of the cost will be required prior to the advertising for
bide for construction. It is anticipated that the preparation
of bid documents, advertising for bids, and construction will
take approximately 90 days. The Developer has indicated that
he is in favor of the project as described above.
It is recommended that the necessary funds be appropriated,
and that construction begin as soon as possible.
Plans showing the proposed street and sewer construction
are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
Respectfully submitted,
John T. Frawley,
City Engineer
