HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-08-12 City Council Minutes MINUTES OFREGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL-AUGUST 12, 2019 Meeting Called to Order at 7.30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Nichols Councilors Absent.Schaeffer and Davitt Meeting Adjourned at 8:35 PM PUBLIC COMMENT Susan Whitmore of Orono thanked the city and AARP for the fitness park Michael Alpert spoke in regard to the Waterfront Concerts and felt there had not been any public input on the details of what will happen to a public asset.He felt the order passed at the last meeting should be rescinded so that the public could give input. Norman Heitmann, City Solicitor,said they could not rescind and the 21 days to reconsider was not timely.He indicated the process taken on this was standard procedure for all development agreements. Skip Black stated two of the masts by the entrance to the waterfront were taken down during the Bangor Savings Bank construction and they are not back up yet. Patty Hamilton introduced Jennifer Doyle,the new Public Nurse Program Manager. Councilor Graham requested a further discussion on Waterfront Concerts and Norman Heitmann stated it could be done during a Council workshop. Paul LeClair, 666 Finson Road, was opposed to any sale of marijuana and was very concerned with food items containing THC being accessible to children. CONSENT AGENDA ASSIGNED TO ITEMNO. Cathy Conlow, City Manager,stated that bond funding cannot be used for anything but what is approved by the voters. Mr. LeClair asked if the taxpayers would be responsible and the City Manager responded that they would be. Shannon Denbow was opposed to this and felt the money could be better spent on the problems surrounding homelessness. Skip Black asked if this included the replacement of windows. Cathy Conlow indicated that the windows were being done now.
