This Resolve authorizes the City Manager to accept and appropriate $431,000 from MaineHealth. FY20 is year four of a five-year Maine Prevention Services grant to provide tobacco prevention services in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. This year four grant is a $265,000 increase over the year three award amount as a result of additional funding being made available for tobacco prevention in Maine's biennial budget. It is anticipated that this increased level of funding will remain intact for the final, fifth year of this grant in FY21. The Tobacco Prevention Program works to reduce youth tobacco initiation and exposure to secondhand smoke by implementing tobacco free policies in and providing supports to municipalities, schools, universities, work sites, multi-unit housing, hospitals and other settings.
