HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-07-22 City Council Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL—JULY 22, 2019 Meeting Called to Order at 7:30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Nichols Councilors Absent:None Meeting Adjourned at 9:02 PM RECOGNITION Recognized GE Power's 50 Year History in Bangor PROCLAMATION Proclaimed August 6,2019 as Hiroshima Remembrance Day PUBLIC COMMENT Emily Bean and Sandra Johnson,members of Friends of Pickering Square, asked that the City Councilor consider their group as an ongoing advisory committee for improving Pickering Square and the generally the downtown area. Ryan Armstrong of Hampden asked if the City Council could help with getting the navigation lights under the Joshua Chamberlain and 1395 bridges fixed along with the chains that are hanging down in the water. Rick Bronson voiced his displeasure that Bangor was losing Councilor Nealley but was also pleased for him. Councilor Nealley stated that this would be his last full meeting as he was moving to Florida and would be offering his resignation soon. Councilor Nealley was presented with a key to the city. Harold Wheeler stated this has had a positive impact on the city but objected to another 25 years.He thought the city should be cautious of long term contracts. Ann Marie Orr and Nazrin Dixon said the concerts had a positive economic impact and contributed to Bangor's growth.
