Numerous businesses in the City of Bangor have or desire electronic signs. Many of these businesses are near residential areas. The City has a sign ordinance intended to provide some protection for residential areas from the impact of electronic signs while balancing the needs of businesses. There are many businesses located on major arterials in Bangor that usually front the street where signage has less, if any, impact on residential areas. Some have electronic signs. This ordinance amendment will allow electronic signs on several of the City's major arterials where there are few or no residential properties that will be impacted. It will require that electronic signs be located to the side of the primary structure that faces the street.
