THAT, Chapter VIII, Article 21, Section 5 (4) of the Laws and Ordinances
of the City of Bangor be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the
following:
(4) Design, Construction and Maintenance. All off-street parking areas
shall be constructed and
maintained in accordance with the requirements of the Building
Code of the City of Bangor, Chapter IX, Section 1. All off-street
parking areas containing fifty or more spaces shall have such
landscaping as may be approved by the Planning Board pursuant
to site plan review .for purposes of reducing any adverse effects
resulting fromdztensive areas of pavement. To addition, all
off-street parking areas shall meet the fallowing requirements:
(a) Minimum Design Standards (Surface Parking)
1. General Requirements - 90° Parking
Minimum area pervehicles including parking and
maneuvering. 250 square feet
Minimum parking stall width - 9.0 feet
Minimum parking stall length 18.0 feet
Minimum travel aisle width -24.0 feet
ii. Diagonal Parking - Minimuro Standards

AND_TRAT, Chapter. VIII, Article 21, Section 5 be further amended by
adding the following subsection:

(a), i, ii, and iii above except that the Planning Board may.. alter
such standards in cases where the designer can demonstrate a
reasonable need for such alteration becauseof the particular
structural arrangement of the proposed structure or deckand
can demonstrate the workability of the parking and clrculaiion
arrangement within the structure or deck.

meeting of May 2, 1983. held a public hearing on the above
zoning amendment. After extensive discussion of the inflexibility
and out -dated requirements of the present parking, lot development
standards, the Board voted five in favor and none opposed to
recommend approval of the above zoning amendment.
