HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-04-22 City Council Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL—APRIL 22, 2019 Meeting Called to Order at 7:30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Nichols Councilors Absent:Davitt Meeting Adjourned at 8:37 PM PROCLAMATION Proclaimed April 22-28,2019 as the Week of the Young Child PROCLAMATION Proclaimed April 22,2019 as Earth Day PUBLIC COMMENT Darcy Cook a member of Transportation for All expressed her concerns with the bus study as their first meeting with the company is next week and the study is already% complete. She also stated she did not care where the hub was located as long as it was best for the users and she was not in favor of mini hubs. Suzanne Kelly a Bangor resident and member of Transportation for All stated her main concern for the bus service was that it be tailored towards the residents without vehicles who depend on it for work and appointments. Susan Whitmore of Orono thought the social issues surrounding child drug use and teen homelessness needed to be worked on. John Hiatt stated he received notice of the parking committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow through email this afternoon and would not be able to attend due to a conflict in his schedule.He felt home healthcare workers should be given a parking permit and be exempt from the parking regulations.He also asked the status of the chicken ordinance as he would like to have a chicken and cannot afford to live in the rural area. Council Chair Nichols stated that the majority of the Council was not in favor of pursuing such an ordinance. Peter Phillips of Bangor wanted to know the tangible steps that can be taken to help the environment beyond the proclamation for Earth Day. CONSENT AGENDA ASSIGNED TO ITEM NO.
