ORDERED, THAT WHEREAS, the National Park Serviceof the U.S. Department of the Interior under the Land and Water Conservation Fund has a Federal Grant -In -Aid Program which provides 50% reimbursement for the acquisition and/or development of public outdoor recreation facilities, and WHEREAS, it is desirable for the City of Bangor to improve its downtown waterfront areas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT, the City Manager is authorized to apply, on behalf of the City, for Federal financial assistance under the provisions of the Land and Water Conservation Act, Public Law 88-578 for the develop- ment of the Kenduskeag Plaza Pedestrian Area; and further authorize the City Manager to enter into the Land and Water Conservation Fund Project Agreement with the State of Maine subsequent to Federal approval of the Project. STATEMENT OF FACT: The Land and Water Conservation Fund application ede�neTFinca1 183 is December 1, 1982. This is a competitive program for 50% funding of outdoor recreation type projects. The City intends to match the Federal monies under this program with Block Grant money in order to carry out the publicimprovementsfor the Kenduskeag Plaza Area.
