Title, Resolve
Appropriating $298,371 in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 5339 Funding and $273,747 from the Bus
Equipment Reserve to Partially Fund the Acquisition of Community Connector Buses
This Resolve will appropriate funds for the acquisition of 3 new Gillig buses and includes $298,371 in
"FTA 5339" capital funds and $273,747 in local matching funds. The City was successful in it's
application for 2016 Federal Transit Administration (FTA) FAST ACT grant, which provided $1.4
million in federal funds to acquire five (5) new buses. Funding of the local share of the remaining
two buses will be included in the FY 2020 proposed budget.
During the Fiscal Year 2019 budget process, the appropriation of $182,498 in Bus Reserves was
inadvertently omitted from the language of the resolve. In addition, due to the deteriorating
condition of the bus fleet, a third bus was scheduled for delivery in FY 19, instead of FY 20. The
funding for the local share had been included and anticipated in the funding of the bus reserve as
well as the five year capital plan. The anticipated delivery date of the FY 2020 buses is August 2019.
