The right-of-way serves two properties on Third Street, and two additional properties located to the rear. The proposed reconstruction would extend only for a distance of 100 feet to the southerly line of the rear - properties, since the two rear properties are under one ownership, and the owner has recently repaved the entire area. The portion of the right-of-way to be reconstructed would require excavation and the installation of a 12 inch gravel base and a 3 inch bitu- minous concrete surface to a width of 12 Peet, for a distance of approximately 100 feet north from Third Street. Two small trees would be removed, and the disturbed areas adjacent to the roadway would be provided with topsoil and seed. The total estimated cost of the construction is $1,500.00. Of this amount, the City would pa v two-thirds in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VI Artrcle 4, Section 2 of the Laws and Ordinances of the City of Bangor, and the remaining one-third of the coat would be assessed against the properties benefitted, as follows; Jon Dawson, property at 101 Third Street $250.00 Maine Savings Bank, c/o Barley A. Craig, property At 97 Third Street.. Total $500.00 It is considered desirable to construct the subject street to acceptable standards, since it will permit more efficient maintenance, including snow plowing, by the City. It is recom- mended that construction be undertaken thin fall. Plane showing the proposed construction are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
