In 2016, the City acquired 169 Thornton Road to be used for a possible future connection between Bangor Gardens and Husson Avenue. Any movement toward creating that connection is many years away, therefore the City wishes to rent out the home for a period of time until it becomes needed for other purposes. City staff requested information from several property management firms that could manage the rental of the property on our behalf, and found Maine Real Estate Management to be the best choice to manage the property on our behalf. If approved, this order authorizes the City Manager to enter into a management agreement with Maine Real Estate Management to rent and manage the property located at 169 Thornton Road. The terms of the agreement are as follows: The city will receive $1,350 per month rent; utilities to be paid by tenant; the management company will be paid $100 per month for oversight of the property; and the city will pay $30 per hour to the management company for any repairs that they make to the property. The final form of the management agreement shall be approved by the City Solicitor or Assistant City Solicitor.
