HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-02-11 19-091 Order 02/11/201919-091 02/11/2019 19-091 Health & Community Services Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing the City Manager to Apply for a $5,000 Grant from the Maine Prevention Services District Tobacco Prevention Partners and MaineHealth This order will authorize the City Manager to apply for a grant in the amount of $5,000 to support staff development and attendance at the National Conference on Tobacco or Health. This grant is being offered to all District Tobacco Prevention Partners through MaineHealth. MaineHealth is a not-for-profit that is comprised of providers and healthcare organizations committed to the health and well-being of the communities and individuals. MaineHealth is the largest integrated healthcare delivery organization in Maine and is a leading healthcare provider serving northern New Hampshire and Maine. As part of Maine Prevention Services, the Maine Health Center for Tobacco Independence works with 14 community organizations to create tobacco and smoke-free environments across Maine, and help Maine youth and young adults be tobacco-free. Bangor Public Health and Community Services is one of these partners and has been providing tobacco prevention services in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties through a contract with MaineHealth since 2016.
