Dear John
8]-154
As a follow-up to our conversation of April 15, 1987, I am
formally requesting that the City of Bangor participate in the
oat of and retain ownership in a sanitary sewer serving property
on Springer Drive. As a matter of history, it is my understsan-
ding that a small private sewer was
extended over our Exxon
property and in a Westerly directionto connect with the City
sewer. At the time, a small restaurant (naw known as Paul's) was
the only user. In an effort to save the City the expense of ex-
cavating ledge along Hogan Road to serve this o user, a pre-
vious developer had extended the private sewer a considerable
distance. Paul's has expanded at least twice since that time,
Burger King has entered this line and the addition of One
Springer Place (office building) and a revised Exxon location
with a car wash is planned, therefore, this private sewer is now
undersized. It seems that it is in the public's best interest
for the City to acquire a major portion of the line.
Webber Oil will commit a fifty per cent share of the cost to
replace this private line with a public sanitarysw of
reasonable size. I am requesting that you make the City Council
aware of this development. I understand that a cost study must
be accomplished before final Council action. -
There will be Considerable construction activity on site
this summer. Hopefully, the r - zing and relocation of the
sanitary sewer can be accomplished before the pavement is in
place. We will be happy to grant the necessary easements for
construction and maintenance.
Sincerely,
Raymond J. Cota, Jr.
