CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE
Engineering Department
To the Municipal Officers: March 17, 1987
Reference is made to City Council Order No. 85-370 passed October 26,
1985, authorizing the installation of a street light system on Springer Drive
extending approximately 1,200 feet east from Eagan Road. The original
installation was petitioned for by the Springer Realty Company, since the
Bangor Hydro-ElectrfC Company did not locate a pole line within the Springer
Drive right-of-way.
All work has been completed, including the installation of one wood
pole and seven aluminum poles with concrete bases, and approximately 1.200
feet of underground conduit and wire,
rata total cost, including engineering.
of $8.900.00. This is somewhat in excess of the original estimate of $6.900.00,
primarily due to severe weatber conditions during the time of Installation in
November and December of1985.
It was originally anticipated that the previous project budget which was
established for the construction of the Springer Drive roadway and sanitary
sever, by Council Order No. 85-183 passed May 13, 1985, would be sufficient
Locover the additional cost of the street lighting, so that no additional
appropriation was
made: however, the bids received for paving were higher than
anticipated, so that the original budget was
exhausted. Accordingly, an
additional appropriation of $8,900.00 will be required to cover the lighting
oat, with fifty percent. or $4,450.00 to be reimbursed to the City by an
assessment against Springer Malty Company.
Respectfully submitted,
lCity Engineer
