Historic Landmark
At the recently scheduled meeting of the Historic Preservation
Commission, held on March 17th, the Commission unanimously voted
to continue the matter to the Commission's scheduled meeting in
May, planned for May 26th, at the request of Eastern Maine Healthcare,
owner of the structure. -
The purpose of this continuance is to afford time to the Commission
to review the drafted amendment to the Historic Preservation Commission
prepared by Thomas Johnson, Legal Counsel for Eastern Maine Healthcare,
proposing a Variance process be included in the existing Ordinanace.
This shall afford ample time for the Commission to review the proposal,
along with the State Historic Preservation Commissioner to are
that this would not jeopardise the Bangor' Commission's standingas
a certified local government.
The Historic Commission has assured James Coffey Of Eastern Maine
Healthcare, that no action would be taken on designation of the
Mace House until such time as anclusion has been made as to
their decision concerning the Variance Amendment to the Ordinance.
