ORDERED.
THAT the attached report of the City Engineer showing the final costa
of the construction of the Springer Drive roadway, storm sever and sanitary
sewer construction. be and hereby is accepted; and be it further
ORDERED,
THAT payment of the City's share In the amount of $63,475.00 be made to
Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.
STATEMENT OF PACT:
The City agreed to pay fifty percent of the cost of the road and severs
by Council Order No. 85-183 passed May 13, 1985, based upon the lowest bid
received by Show's, or the City Engineer's estimate, whichever was lower.
The total City's share based upon the actual bids received was $64,503.50.

To the Hunicipal officers:
Reference is made to City Council order No. 85-183 passed May 13,
1985, authorizing City participation in the cost of construction of the
Springer Drive roadway and sanitary sewer, extending northeast from Hogan
Road.
All work has been completed, which consisted of the construction
of approximately 1,200 feet of roadway extending easterly from Hogan
Road on the north side of Interstate Highway I-95, and the extension of
sanitary sewer service from the terminus of the existing sewer on Hogan
Head. , .
Me roadway was constructed with a paved width of 40 feet for
approximately 400 feet east from Hogan Road, from which point the paved
width is 32 feet, with an a -foot wide gravel shoulder on the southerly
side. An asphalt island with granite curbing was
constructed at the
intersection of said road with Hogan Road. The roadwaconsists of
3 inches of bituminous concrete surface on a 6 inch select gravel base
and a 15 Inch sand and gravel subbase. Surface drainage is provided by
catch basins along the northerly aide of the road, draining In a southerly
direction toward interstate Highway I-95.
The sanitary sewer extension consisted of the installation of
887 feet of 8 inch ductile iron pipe and 3 manholes, extending easterly
from Hogan Road to a point near the terminus of Springer Drive.
Total Actual Cost Original Estimate
Road Construction $105,152. $103,850.
Sanitary Sewer 23,855. 23,100.
Total A29,007. $126,950.
Under the terms of Council Order No. 85-183, the City agreed to pay
fifty percent of the cost based upon the lowest bid received by Shaw's,

Engineer's estimate, whichever was less. nerefore, the City's
participation would be based upon 50% of theCity Engineer's original
estimate, or $63,475.00.
Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. have submitted a detailed breakdown of
all of the costs pertaining to the road and sewer construction, which
have been rified by the James W. Sewall Company of Old Town. Accord-
ingly. 1t is i ended that the City reimburse Shaw's in the amount of
$63,475.Do in accordance with the berme of the original agreement.
Plane showing the road and sewer construction are on file in the
City Engineer's office.
