--the-date rack card and poster
-s well as our grant
application (with a Nov 1 deadline!) to share at the Kickoff event
-Allen did a terrific job with an ARTober cover story in the Maine Edge
-We will have an ongoing ARTober ad in the Maine Edge throughout the month, a major
expense
-the ARTober online calendar was not as robust as in past years
4. Other Business
Discussion of Maine Arts Commission (MAC) \[biennial?\] conference held this year in
Portland
Jane was impressed but
form of publicity and/or a fundraising tool
Local figures there, in addition to CCD members, included Deb (Bangor Ballet?) and
Lucas Richmond and Brian Hinrichs (BSO)
Better collaboration between CCD and MAC \[and Maine Humanities Council\] could
include:
-invite MAC-award winners to be local speakers
-stream conference to Bangor audience when not held locally
-provide grants to support attendance at MAC and similar meetings
of statewide importance
Discussion of better promotion of Bangor as a cultural travel destination
activities
Maine magazine
Need for
(website?)
Need to have stronger ties to City staff, the City Council (generally), and especially the
Bangor Economic Development Committee (under whom the CCD operates)
5. CCD Grant Deadline (Nov. 1)
This will be the central work for our December meeting, please publicize the grant
program wide and far!
6. Future Business
Staff turnover and anticipated departure of several CCD members will make the new year
a good time to revisit our charge and strategic plan, which have not been updated
in some time, a long-standing desire of Jane
Recruiting new commissioners should be a priority
Do we have the time, energy, and expertise to apply for major external grants to expand
our work?
7. Adjourn
