The goal is to build on the community collaboration that occurred during the first two phases of the MEHAF Healthy Communities program. During Phase One the community identified substance use disorder as a significant issue. During Phase Two the community created action steps to reduce stigma and to identify gaps in services and supports for people affected by substance use disorder. The implementation plan for Phase Three focuses on building successful, accessible and sustainable recovery coaching in the Greater Bangor area. This goal was identified by people living with substance use disorder and by professionals working in the field as a best practice for recovery and as a gap in the current array of services available. The City of Bangor, through its Department of Public Health and Community Services, will provide staff support, coordination and technical assistance for the development of a recovery coaching program housed at the Bangor Area Recovery Network. Phase Three began November 15, 2016 and will end December 31, 2019 with total funding of $187,500. The term of the third year is January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019 with funding of $60,000.
