HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-11-26 19-021 Order 11/26/201819-021 11/26/2018 19-021 Finance Order 055-061 Title, Order Authorizing Disposition of City Property located at 31 Merrimac Street This order will authorize the City Manager to execute the documents necessary to transfer the property to John Karnes. The City acquired the property located at 31 Merrimac Street through matured tax liens (Council Order #17-340). Pursuant to one of our policies on property disposition, staff sent out request for proposals. The only bid received was from John Karnes for $500. The sole bidder, John Karnes, is a local developer and landlord and is looking to invest up to $60,000 to rehabilitate the property. In addition, Mr. Karnes is asking to have until December 31, 2019 to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. The deed will include a requirement that the property remain on the tax rolls. Mr. Karnes wishes to rehabilitate to the property for use as a single family rental. The final agreement will be in a form approved by the City Solicitors Office. Finance Committee 11/19/2018 Recommend for passage 50 New Business 11/26/201819-021 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 11/26/2018 19-021 Nealley Authorizing Disposition of City Property located at 31 Merrimac Street WHEREAS, the City owns the property located at 31 Merrimac Street; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to dispose of this property; and WHEREAS, the City requested bid proposals; and WHEREAS, John Karnes, the sole bidder, wishes to purchase the property and has submitted an offer of $500 for the house and land: BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized, to execute a development agreement with John Karnes for property located at 31 Merrimac Street. Under the terms of the agreement Mr. Karnes agrees to pay the City $500 for the property, invest $60,000 to rehabilitate the property, and complete the renovations by December 31, 2019. Mr. Karnes agrees that the property shall include a deed restriction that requires property tax payments regardless of ownership.
