Piscataquis, Waldo and Hancock Couties have 0,000 and innumerable erab over hours poet flax years expended more than economically _ end innumerable hound of d reliable time devetion to the an disposal feasible, environmentally refuse; sound, nd and reliable dalu[ion [a the disposal of household and commercial refuse; and WHEREAS, the preferred management alternative for combustible refuse identified as a result of these planning efforts is resource recovery; and WHEREAS, the twenty-elgbt communities of the Penobscot Valley Refuse Disposal District, in addition to fifty-eight additional municipalities In central Maine representing 250,000 people have established long-term waste disposal agreements with the Penobscot Energy Recovery Company; and WHEREAS, these long-term waste disposal agrerepresent an irreversible course of action to which no alternative is currently feasible; and WHEREAS, the decision by these communities to utilize resource ery Is a major component in their comprehensive solid waste management strategy;; NOW, THEREFORE, Be It RESOLVED, THAT the City Council of the City of Hongor hereby supports and endorses the public need for a landfill for the disposal of incinerator ash and processed residue within �oasomable proximity of the Penobscot Energy Recovery Facility in b[rfng[ovcfMalne.
