Commentary:
The purpose of this revision of the General Assistance Ordinance Is to
increase the musical levels of food assistance as outlined in the Thrifty
Food Plan. See attached memo Of October 3, 1988 from Daniel P. O'leary,
Director, Special Services Unit, Department of Human Services.
The increase ranges from $51mo. for a family of two to $20lmo. for a
family of eight.

are hereby amended as follows:

requires that municipalities incorporate the Mrifty Ford! Plan issued by the Food
and Nutrition service or provide the Department with substantial for the food levels
it will use as a food standard.
The authority to set this standard has been confirmed by the Maine Suprelle
Court in its decisim Westbrook vs. Department of Bursa Services.
