Commentary:
The purpose of this Order is to formally acknowledge receipt of the
City Clerk's Report that the Petitioners'. Committee seeking a
amendment to the Charter for the 3% budget cap has received a
sufficient number of valid signatures.

Me City Clerk's Office received on July 26, 1988 a
petition signed by five registered voters of the City
of Bandor - a request for a public initiative on a
proposed amenduent to the Bangor City Chatter.
The Clerk's office followed the provisions set up by
Nome Rule Statute 30 M.R.S.A. 1914. We prepared and
gave to the Committee a sufficient amount of petitions
for circulation. Amount of signatures needed according
to State Statute is 20% of the last gubernatorial election.
Total signatures needed 2.046. Total received on September
16, 1988 2,438.
Total verified 2,106 on September 19, 1988. The above total
being a sufficient amount of signatures needed for the above
noted petition.
