Item/5 bl m: Abounding. Chapter II, Article 18 of theOrdinancesof the-
City.of Bangor -- Civil Defense Department
Responsible Department: Legal
Commentary:
The Civil Defense Department has not functioned as a department
for many years. Also, civil emergencies are
w handled under a
program administered by the State Emergency Management Bureau. The
City has previously been designated ascivil emergency prepared-
ness
agency by the Governor. Another Order will be on the agenda
to formally appoint the Fire Chief as Director of Local Civil
Emergency Preparedness. In most c mmunitiet so designated, the
Fire Chief has been delegated the responsibility of handling -
civil emergencies on thelocal level.
