HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-10-10 18-371 Order 18-371 18-371 Health & Community Services Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets in the amount of $6,000 This Order will authorize the City Manager to execute an amendment to memorandum of understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets to increase funding by $6,000 for education and outreach of the Maine Harvest Bucks program. The Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets (MFFM) administers low-income food access programming (SNAP and Maine Harvest Bucks) at farmers’ markets throughout the state and at four markets in the Bangor region including the Bangor Downtown Farmers’ Market, Ohio Street Farmers’ Market, Hampden Farmers’ Market and Brewer Farmers’ Market. Through the USDA Farmers' Market SNAP Support Grant (FMSSG), the Maine Federation of Farmer's Markets will provide Bangor Public Health and Community Services an additional $6,000 to support staff time to perform various outreach and education tasks that improve low-income SNAP and Maine Harvest Bucks participation metrics at Bangor-area farmers’ markets. The original $5,000 MOU with the Maine Federation of Farmers was ratified on August 27, 2018. The term of this agreement is July 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019 Government Operations Committee 10/01/2018 Recommend for passage 50 Consent 18-371 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 18-371 Supica Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets in the amount of $6,000 Whereas, Council Order 18-329 authorized the City Manager to sign an MOU with the Maine Federation of Farmers Market for $5,000 for outreach and education of the Maine Harvest Bucks Program; and Whereas, The Maine Federation of Farmers Markets would like to increase the amount by $6,000 for a grand total of $11,000; and Whereas, the funding would be utilized by Bangor Public Health and Community Services to educate and promote Harvest Bucks at four farmers markets in the Bangor region; and Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, The City Manager is Authorized to Execute an Amendment to the Original Memorandum of Understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmer's Markets Bangor for an additional $6,000 to support staff time to perform various outreach and education tasks that improve low-income SNAP and Maine Harvest Bucks participation metrics at Bangor-area farmers’ markets.
