HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-10-01 Government Operations Committee Minutes City of Bangor Government Operations Committee Meeting Monday, October 1, 2018 City Hall Council Chambers Council Members in Attendance: Councilor Graham Councilor Weston Councilor Nealley Councilor Sprague Councilor Perry Councilor Supica Councilor Nichols Councilor Tremble Staff Members in Attendance: City Manager Cathy Conlow Assistant City Manager Richard Cromwell Parks & Recreation Director Tracy Willett Robin Carr Regular Agenda: 1) A resolve accepting and appropriating $164,996 for the Maine Prevention Services Tobacco Prevention Grant Program. This program supports youth tobacco prevention and education programs. 2) An order authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the Original Memorandum of Understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets to increase the total funding to $11,000. The additional funding is to be used to support staff’s outreach and education toward this program. 3) Discussion regarding mold bloom on some Council records that needs to be Remediated. Original Council records must be preserved indefinitely. It was discovered during the records preservation process Council Orders from 1853, 1940-1944, and 1946 developed mold. As a result these documents need to undergo a mold treatment prior to the scheduled preservation process. The additional cost for this will be $2,300. 4) An order appointing Student Election Clerks for the November 6, 2018 Election. This order would allow for 14 members of the Bangor High School Student Government to participate in the elections process. 5) An order allowing for a tree plaque to be placed on the sister city tree that was planted in Cascade Park in 1995 during a welcoming event for two community members of Carasque, El Salvador’s sister village.
