Authorizing the City Manager to Apply for Small Harbor Improvement Program (SHIP) Grant Funding for Dock
2 & 3 Replacement
Summary
This Order would authorize the City Manager to apply for an MDOT "Small Harbor Improvement
Program" (SHIP) Grant to fund the replacement of Docks 2 & 3 on the Bangor Waterfront.
Docks 2 & 3 are 30 year old wooden docks situated on Front Street, just South of the Joshua
Chamberlain Bridge. The proposed project will replace docks 20, the gangways and stiff arms,
provide electric power pedestals, and add seasonal potable water to each of the docks.
The estimated cost for replacement of both docks are approximately $331,322.00. The grant will
provide up to 50% match. If approved, the City will match the funds utilizing $65,000.00 in reserves
and would provide additional matching funds in the amount of $100,000.00 from 2020 fiscal year
capital budget.
