2. Pedestrian Safety Improvements for Outer Hammond Street
John Theriault stated he was contacted by a concerned citizen in June 2018 regarding a fatality in
between Odlin Road and the area of the Leadbetter Store on Outer Hammond Street, as indicated
on the map provided. Correspondence was exchanged with Maine Department of Transportation
(MDOT) to install solar powered LED Lights and signage as part of pedestrian safety
improvement on Outer Hammond Street. The cost of the improvements was estimated at
$25,000.00, which the State would provide 80% or $20,000.00 of the cost, and the City’s local
share would be 20% or $5,000.00. There was continued questions and conversation of the
details with the Committee requesting information of the traffic volumes and crashes that occur
at night.
