Title, Resolve
Appropriating $156,900 for One-Year to Partially Fund 4 Firefighters Positions Under the Staffing for Adequate
Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Funds
This resolve will authorize the appropriation of $156,900 of FY17 SAFER grant funds to partially fund
4 entry level firefighter positions. The anticipated start date for this project is October 1, 2018.
Although there is no requirement to retain the positions at the conclusion of the grant period, a
progressive local match is now required to encourage communities to retain the positions. The local
match for the first two years of funding is 25% and the final year is 65%. The first year local match
of 25% was included in the recently adopted FY 2019 budget.
