This order would authorize staff to work with employees of Wayfair to assist with ongoing maintenance and improvement projects at the City's Dog Park. Tasks could include monthly cleanup days, various improvement projects as well as possible equipment and material donations from Wayfair. In those cases, this order would authorize the City to accept said donations pursuant to the City's policies regarding donations. Government Operations Committee 09/05/2018 Recommend for passage 40 Consent 09/10/201818-351 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 09/10/2018 18-351 Graham Authorizing the Parks and Recreation Department to work with Wayfair employees to volunteer on an ongoing basis at the City's Dog Park as well as accept potential donations of equipment and materials. WHERAS, The Parks and Recreation Department manages a Dog Park for the citizens of Bangor which is located at Essex Woods, and: WHERAS, The City of Bangor Parks and Recreation Department relies on volunteers to assist with said management of this ammenity, and: WHERAS, Employees from Wayfair have volunteered to assist with that effort through the donation of individual employee time as well as materials and equipment when needed, and; WHERAS, Wayfair has established a large and positive presence here in the City Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, City staff of the Parks and Recreation Department is hereby authorized to work with employees of Wayfair for the purpose of assisting with ongoing maintenance and projects at the City's Dog Park. The Parks and Recreation Director or his designee is authorized to participate with those volunteers/individuals involved with this effort including incidental use of Department funds, materials, supplies, and City equipment. BE IT FOURTHER ORDERED, THAT Pursuant to Section 33-9.1 of the Code of the City of Bangor City staff is hereby authorized to accept donations from Wayfair for Dog Park and the Finance Director is hereby authorized to accept such donations. The Finance Director shall establish such procedures as she deems necessary to insure that any donated funds, goods, or services that are eligible for a tax deduction are appropriately received and accounted for and are used specifically for the purpose intended by the donors.
