CITY CLERK
CITY OF BANGOR, PAINE
8ngineering Department
Nay 5, 1988
To the Municipal Officers
Reference is made to City Council Order No. 8I-110 passed Nay
11, 1987, directing the City Engines[ to do a cost study for the
extension of sanitary sever service to fats No. 41 and No. 42 0n
Huasen Avenue, as petitioned far by G 6 S Associates. Surveys,
Plana and Coat Estimates have been Completed, which would indicate
the need for the installation of 320 feet of 8 inch pipe and 2 man-
holes, extending in a northerly direction from the existing public
sewer located in Bradford Common. The total estimated cost of the
sever extension, including an allowance of $1,000.00 for possible
ledge, is $13,000.00. Of this amount, the City would pay fifty percent
and the remaining $6,500.00 would bessed against G a S Associates.
It Is recommended that the Developer be required to prepay its
estimated share of the cost prior to the start of construction.
The sewer iseary to a No proposed 4 -unit apartment
buildings, each to have an estimated value of $175.000.00. The
a
inc a Staxes on this property a result of the construction
would amount to approximately $6,400800 per year, or approximately
the amount of the City Investment 1n the sever
extension: however,
this increase does not reflect the probable increase in City services
required to serve the additional housing unite. There is the potential
that the sewer extension might se additional property located between
Bradford Commons and the lots tobe developed, although no plane for
immediate development are knewn.
It is recommended that the sever
extension he made, which will
basically complete the extension of sewer service into this area of
Musson Avenue.
Respectfully submitted,
City Engineer
John T. Frawley.
