Staff in Attendance: Cathy Conlow, Jamie Comstock Items: 1) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $2,462,963.00 in grant funds for the Women, Infant and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC). Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Laura Supica 2) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $125,000.00 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to establish and strengthen local efforts to prevent youth substance use in Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, and Hermon. Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Councilor Supica 3) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $85,000 from Maine Health to increase healthy eating and active living in key settings for children and families in the Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Councilor Weston 4) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $318,723 for the Supplemental Nutrition Education Grant Program (SNAP ED) from the University of New England. Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Councilor Supica 5) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $134,828 from Maine Health Center for Tobacco Independence, to reduce tobacco-use in the Penquis Public Health District which includes Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Councilor Supica 6) A resolve allowing acceptance and appropriation of $155,579 from the University of New England for youth substance use prevention initiatives in Penobscot County. Motion made by Councilor Nichols Motion seconded by Councilor Weston 7) An order authorizing the City Manager to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maine Federation of Farmer's Markets for $5,000 to cover staffing costs associated with promoting their Maine Harvest Bucks Program. Motion made by Councilor Tremble Motion seconded by Laura Weston
