Authorizing Execution of a Contract with A.D. Electric for Ohio/14th Street and Union/14th Street Intersection
Improvements in the Amount of $483,068
This order will authorize a contract with A.D. Electric in the amount of $483,068 for improvements to
the intersections of 14th and Ohio and 14th and Union Streets. This project involves a full
replacement of traffic signal equipment at both intersections including supports, detection, control
cabinets and signal heads, as well as sidewalk ramps and pedestrian warning fields (i.e. bumpy
material) at the crosswalks.
In addition the Union/14th street project includes the addition of a new right turn lane from 14th
street onto Union Street. This work is being undertaken as a BACTS (Bangor Area Comprehensive
Transportation System) project. BACTS projects are funded with 80% federal, 10% state and 10%
local funds. Staff recommendation is to award the bid to A.D. Electric, the sole bidder, in the
amount of $483,068. This item will be reviewed by the Finance Committee prior to this evening's
Council meeting.

Improvements in the Amount of $483,068
Whereas, the Bangor Area Comprehensive Transportation System (BACTS) has included funding for improving
the intersections of Ohio and 14th Street and Union and 14th Street; and
Whereas, BACTS projects are locally administered by City staff; and
Whereas, AD Electric was the successful bidder for the electrical work at those intersections; and
Whereas, the City is responsible for 10% of the cost of those improvements.
Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that,
Deborah Cyr is hereby authorized to execute a contract with A.D. Electric, in the amount of $483,068, for
Ohio/14th Street and Union/14th Street intersection improvements.
