HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-06-25 18-260 Order 06/25/201818-260 06/25/2018 18-260 Engineering Order N/A Title, Order Discontinuance of a Portion of Pearl Street On May 30, 2018, Council Order 18-206 authorized the City Engineer to begin the process of discontinuance of a portion of Pearl St. Under 23 M.R.S.A. §3026-A, before discontinuing a road, the City Council must provide notice to abutting property owners. Notice was provided and City Engineer held a public meeting on June 6, 2018 at 10:00 am, second floor Engineering Conference Room, City Hall, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor. This Order would accept the City Engineer's Report for the discontinuance of a portion of Pearl Street as depicted in "Exhibit A". The portion of the road in question is not used as a right-of-way and is not needed for public purposes. If approved, the city will discontinue a portion of Pearl Street and retain an easement to operate and maintain all existing public utilities located on the property including but not limited to public sewer, public water, natural gas, and overhead and underground electrical and communications lines. Consent 06/25/201818-260 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 06/25/2018 18-260 Nichols Discontinuance of a Portion of Pearl Street Where as, there is no longer any public interest or need to retain the portion of Pearl Street as a public street and; Where as, the discontinued Right of Way will revert to the adjacent property owners to the center of the street and; Where as, the City shall retain a utility easement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT The attached City Engineer's Report regarding the discontinuance of a portion of Pearl Street be accepted and; BE IT FURTHER ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT, said portion of Pearl Street Right-Of-Way be discontinued as a public way, and removed from the official City map.
